Fees and Payment

Consultation fees

Both initial and follow-up consultations with Dr Ben Schwarz will incur a fee, part of which is reimbursed by Medicare with a valid referral. The specific consultation fees will be discussed at the time of booking and confirming your appointment.

We understand that there are instances of financial hardship. Under these circumstances we offer a discounted rate as well as a pensioner rate to those who hold a valid Pensioner Concession Card. Please discuss these options with our staff prior to your appointment.

Note: All consultation fees are required to be settled at the end of the consultation.

Surgical procedure fees

Prior to surgery, a detailed surgical fee estimate will be provided outlining the costs including the rebates from Medicare and your health fund and an estimate of any remaining out-of-pocket or ‘gap’ expenses for Dr Ben Schwarz.

Our fees have been developed in accordance with the Australian Medical Association (AMA) and the Medical Benefits Scheme (MBS) as set out by the Australian Health Service Alliance (AHSA) and Medicare.

The surgical fee estimate includes the specific item numbers for your procedure. It is your responsibility to confirm with your health fund that you are covered for your procedure using the provided item numbers.

There may be additional fees associated with your procedure which may include:

  • Anaesthetist
  • Surgical assistant
  • Private hospital admission
  • Surgical prosthesis
  • Post-operative care

If you have any queries with the fee estimate or billing items, it is important that you ask our staff. They can help you navigate what can be a complex process by either advising where to find the relevant information or helping explain the charges and rebate structure.

Note: All payments are required at least 5 days prior to your procedure.
